Opel officially announced the introduction of a 1.6-liter SIDI Turbo engine for the new Astra model. The new powerplant is more powerful than the outgoing unit producing 170 horsepower and 280Nm of torque.
You can get the new engine on the hatchback model but is also available for the sedan and wagon.
Excluding the latter, Opel says that fuel economy figures are rated at 5,9 liters/100km with no details for the Sports Tourer.
A new six-speed manual transmission is offered as standard with an optional automatic one on the list.
“The all-new engine combines excellent refinement and a smooth power delivery with lower fuel consumption,” adds the company in the official press release.
In terms of pricing, the German carmaker asks for €23,385 if you want the hatchback while the more spacious Sports Tourer starts at €24,485.
