Volkswagen decided to add a new engine to the lineup of the Amarok pickup truck in Europe. To be more specific, the Volkswagen Amarok is now available with a 2.0-liter diesel unit offering 138hp and 340Nm of torque. It replaces the entry-level diesel which was offering 120 horsepower.
Thanks to the additional power, the 2.0-liter TDI makes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 12,6 seconds while the top speed is rated at 168 km/h.

If we compare the new engine to the outgoing one, it shaves 0,6 seconds off the acceleration time and adds 6 km/h to the top speed.

Fuel economy figures are rated at 6,8 liters/100km or 34,6mpg US, numbers available when the model is fitted with the BlueMotion Technology package.

If you want more power, then you can still opt for the 2.0-liter BiTDI engine able to deliver 178 horsepower. The 2013 Volkswagen Amarok fitted with the new 120hp 2.0-liter TDI starts at €24,317 in Germany and is available for order.
