The new Volkswagen Golf R has been caught on camera again. This time, during a test run around the Nurburgring in Germany.

Until the official launch, possibly at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this year, the spy photos that surface sate our need of information on Volkswagen’s iconic vehicle.

All clues indicate towards a more aggressive front end coupled with bigger side skirts and a quad exhaust pipe. The new version Golf R will also be using a sports tuned suspension, high performance brakes and a reworked electronic stability system.

Sitting atop 19 or 20 inch wheels, the Volkswagen Golf 7 R will be powered by a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder turbocharged engine capable of producing power close to the 300 Hp mark. It will sport an all wheels drive system and thanks to the use of different materials, it will also be a bit lighter.

The acceleration to 100 km/h is estimated below six seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h (probably electronically limited). Should you desire to purchase a Volkswagen Golf 7 R, be prepared to pay somewhere around 46.000 USD.
