The current generation Ford Mustang is just about to receive some updates, the new model being recently caught on shots while undergoing tests in camouflage. Most of the changes will be under the hood, the facelifted versions presuming coming with a new engine and fresh automatic gearbox.

However, there are also indications that reveal some new styling bits, and the camouflage around the body is the best clue. We should thus expect minor changes up front and at the rear, meaning slightly modded front and rear bumpers, new headlights and so on.

Inside, the new 2018 Ford Mustang will carry over the same gadgetries, adding improved materials and sports trims.

As for the car`s new powertrain, according to Mustang6G, the model is reported to drop the 3.7-liter V6 engine in favor of an entry-level EcoBoost 2.0-liter flat-four and a top version 5.0-liter V8 naturally-aspirated engine.

This means that the power will also be raised from 300 horsepower to around 310 horsepower. The turbo variant is also likely to gain around 40 lb-ft of torque. Overall, the engines will be more powerful and fuel-efficient, especially since it will be paired to a new and high-performance 10-speed automatic transmission built in collaboration with General Motors.

There are more good news to follow besides the new engines and automatic gearbox, especially in the mechanical department, the new 2018 Ford Mustang also featuring the MagneRide dampers, which will improve the car`s driving dynamics and capabilities. The same dampers are also fitted on the Shelby GT350 and GT350R muscle cars.
