Mercedes decided to take the wraps off the all-new GT3, a model that shares a lot of the features with its Mercedes-AMG GT sibling. The German model meets FIA GT3 specifications, therefore, is ready to compete in this type of races.
Under the hood sits a big 6.3-liter V8 engine capable that is similar to the one in the SLS AMG GT3 but received some power improvements. A six-speed sequential transmission sends power to the wheels. Further performance details and figures are yet to be released by Mercedes.
At the exterior, there’s a new carbon fiber body kit that has new bumpers, a ventilated hood, a rear wing, revised side skirts and ventilated front fenders. The doors are also new while the rear diffuser can be seen in the rear.
Inside, Mercedes kept things really simple with a steel roll cage, a carbon fiber racing seat, new digital instrument cluster and a special steering wheel. The main purpose of the cabin is to offer all the needed gear but also be as light and stripped out as possible.
Pricing details on the Mercedes-AMG GT3 are not available yet but we do know that sales will begin very soon. However, first units will be delivered towards the end of this year, so we expect to see the GT3 on track somewhere next year.
