The high-performance yet fuel-efficient version of the new Mercedes S-Class debuted today at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It packs a 3.0-liter V6 petrol unit and an electric motor for a total output of 435 horsepower and 820Nm of torque.
Even the 0-100 km/h sprint is possible in 5,5 seconds and the top speed is limited at 250 km/h, the German model averages a fuel economy of 3 liters/100km or 94,1mpg UK.

CO2 emissions are also kept at a very good level, namely 69 g/km.

“With the S 500 PLUG-IN HYBRID Mercedes-Benz sets another milestone on the road to emission-free mobility on the basis of our modular hybrid matrix,” says the carmaker.

In terms of pricing and availability, we do know that the 2014 Mercedes S500 Plug-in Hybrid will go on sale somewhere in 2014 but there are no official information about the starting price. Even so, expect quite steep figures for such a powerful hybrid based on the latest generation S-Class.
