One of Korea’s funkiest products of the automotive industry is currently undergoing a makeover as it gets a facelift for 2013.
Not only that, but Kia is readying two new versions of the Soul alongside the refreshed model.

I’m not attempting to dent the appeal of the 2013 Kia Soul but the two versions are the ones I’m interested in. One of them is to be a convertible and the other is a GT.
The first is pretty easy to anticipate since we’ve already seen the Kia Soul’ster concept and we do know that it’s been close to happening for a while now.
So that’s what’s going on with the open top version of the Kia Soul, but what about the GT body shape of the funky hatchback?

This is where things go a little bit weird as GT isn’t the sort of designation that’s stable. It once stood for Grand Tourer.
Somehow we don’t think Kia will make a comfy, powerful, high speed cruiser out of the Soul. They’re more likely to create some unusual crossover and then brand it as a GT.
Since the Soul doesn’t really run with the pack, we could end up seeing a completely new idea and make up what they feel like and then call it the Soul GT.

That is my most hopeful option cause I’d really hate to see some sort of estate version of the Soul being dubbed a GT.
Overloading a car like this which comes with no engine above the 1.6 liter mark is certainly going to feel completely non-funky and slow.
