Opel announced its plans to present a new fuel efficient diesel engine at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, a unit which will be seen for the first time on the Opel Zafira Tourer.

To be more specific, we talk about a 1.6-liter EcoTec powerplant capable to deliver 134 horsepower and 320Nm of torque.

It benefits from several fuel saving technologies such as BlueInjection and SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction).

Opel promises that the new engine will return fuel economy figures of 4,1 lt/100km to 68,9mpg UK with CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km. In terms of performance, the Zafira Tourer fitted with this turbo diesel will sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 10,4 seconds, hitting a top speed of 193 km/h.

For now, there are no pricing details on the Opel Zafira Tourer equipped with the new 1.6-liter CDTI EcoTec engine. However, we do know that the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer will benefit from this engine as well.
