From time to time, carmakers try to impress the customers with their most frugal models. This time, Skoda managed to get in our attention with the Citigo CNG, the model able to run on compressed natural gas.
With Gerhard Plattner behind the wheel, a well-known name in these kind of attempts, the company managed to cover a total of 2,619 kilometers with a total cost of just €100.
The Czech company released official fuel consumption figures of 2,9 kg/100km but Plattner managed to average 2,39 kg/100km which is quite impressive.
As a reminder, under the bonnet sits a 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit producing 67 horsepower. The start/stop system, brake energy regeneration and low rolling-resistance tires also helped the company to achieve these figures.
“I am very excited about this record; it’s a testament to the efficiency of the CNG engine in the Skoda Citigo,” said Plattner.
