That’s right folks, barely have we seen the regular sedan version of the 2012 Chrysler 200 and we already have a few shots of its convertible sibling.

As the sedan did before it, the Chrysler 200 Cabriolet picks up where the Sebring left off only it tends to do things much better.

For a kick off, and this is crucial to any convertible, the new 200 drop-top has a substantially improved interior. In both build quality and materials chosen the interior grades go up a notch.

Another plus point can be seen in how the new 2012 Chrysler 200 Convertible adopts the same soft, pleasant design lines as it’s full encased relative.

Before you get too excited, even though this has got two doors less and a soft top roof, the new 2012 200 Convertible is heavier and somewhat less rigid.

That’s all to be expected but it’s no surprise to find out that the engines powering it will be the same as before. That means the engine choice list ends at two and the transmission options at one.

You can either have a 173 horsepower 2.4 liter four-cylinder or the new 283 horsepower 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 and they will both be hooked up to an automatic transmission.

But these are just niggling details, as is how Lancia may be making a European equivalent of it. What is important is how Chrysler have managed to make a convertible that’s almost interesting.
