It has been know for a while now that Infiniti is planning to build a premium electric vehicle based on the succesful Leaf.

But the high expectations of Infiniti might make this project a no-go, as it all seems to revolve around a single technology.

As Andy Palmer, the company leader, revealed in a press statement, the new electric vehicle depends “on a standard process of induction charging being introduced around the world”. In other words, the only way Infiniti would consider its product a premium vehicle is if they will be able to roll it out fitted with wireless recharging capabilities.

This technology is already being tested around the world, and not just for use in cars, but as a home improvement also. So, if the direction of electric charging seem to heading towards a no-cable future, it makes sense to built their car with that in mind. “The whole concept of not having to couple up cables to a plug socket, dragging them on the ground and on you as you go, is in keeping with luxury motoring”.
