Ford released EPA ratings for the new Fiesta, a model which manages to return fuel economy figures of 30mpg (city) and 41mpg (highway). These numbers are available for the new Fiesta SE model fitted with the Super Fuel Economy pack.
Power is provided by a 1.6-liter unit coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission known as PowerShift. The Super Fuel Economy package brings new underbody shields, a revised front grille, new air deflectors, rear spoiler and low-rolling resistance tires.
In the United States, the new Fiesta is scheduled to go on sale quite soon with standard equipment to include voice recognition, an 8.5-inch MyFord Touch display, Ford MyKey and SYNC AppLink system.
“The claim is significant because fuel economy is often cited as the No. 1 reason for purchase consideration in the subcompact class,” says the company.
Ford also claims that the new Fiesta is the only model in its class to achieve a fuel economy of over 40mpg.
