Opel announced the introduction of a new engine to the Astra GTC. The German model benefits now from a 1.6-liter SIDI Turbo unit producing 170 horsepower and 280Nm of torque.
It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 8,6 seconds with a top speed of 219 km/h. Opel offers the new engine with a standard six-speed manual gearbox while a similar automatic unit is available as well.
Fuel economy figures are rated at 6,1 liters/100km with CO2 emissions of 143 g/km. The Astra GTC is the last one in the lineup to receive this direct-injection engine as the hatchback, sedan and even the wagon variants already got it.
“With this the Astra GTC distinguishes itself from competitors in the 1.4 to 1.8-liter displacement class,” says Opel.
Pricing for the new Astra GTC fitted with the 1.6-liter SIDI engine starts from €23,850 in the local market, Germany.
