One of the newer features to be installed is Volvo’s Pedestrian Detection in Darkness, a system with a self explanatory name. When a pedestrian is detected in low light situations, a signal will be displayed to the driver, and if he doesn’t react in time, the car will even brake before hitting said pedestrian.

The XC90 model will also be fitted with a Road Edge and Barrier Detection with Steer Assist. Again, the name says it all. The system will not only detect the edge of any road, marked or otherwise, it will also apply corrections to the steering to keep you from going off it.
