The Lamborghini Murcielago’s successor has had Sant’Agata Bolognese fans crawling up walls with name rumors and spyshots dripping into the Internet.
A recent bit of information has hit our computers and has fans blowing up. It’s the official Lamborghini dealer order guide and it’s very exciting because it holds crucial information that hasn’t been available so far.
The Lamborghini LP700-4 (we’ll avoid the Aventador name for a while) will be doing the Murcielago’s legacy justice like no parade could ever manage.
This is because of what’s hiding under the very pretty shell. The Lamborghini LP700-4 will develop the already known 700 horsepower and torque 479.4 lb-ft.
The gearbox and V12 engine setup are the same as we’ve been told before but we now know what the two will be pushing around.
The new Lamborghini LP700-4 will weigh no more than 3.472 lbs which makes it 507 pounds lighter than the Murcielago. So, a lot more power and a lot less weight.
This is why the new LP700-4 will hit 60 in just 2.9 seconds and carry on to a top speed of 217 mph. Nice stuff, as a Lamborghini flagship model you can’t expect anything less.
Some tasty information for those of you who are worried about stopping power and cornering habits as we found out what’s going to be happening in that department as well.
The brake setup has 400 mm and 6 calipers for the front and 380 mm with 4 calipers for the rear. All of these will be hidden behind 19 and 22 inch alloy wheels with tires wide enough to walk on water at 255/35 front and 335/30 rear.
Knowing all this stuff only makes waiting for it’s arrival even more interesting than a Lamborghini model would ever be.
